Visit one of the most important monuments in the city of Lille. With its striking contemporary façade, the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral attracts attention and arouses curiosity. It must be said that it has nothing to do with the neo-gothic style of the rest of the building. This particularity comes from its history: the Cathedral of Lille was built between 1854 and 1999! The final façade, decorated with a stained glass window by Ladislas Kinjo, was only added in 2008.
This translucent marble façade gives the cathedral a special luminosity. It also symbolically separates the secular world, sober and raw, from the sacred world, luminous and majestic. Finally, in the crypt of the cathedral, there is now a centre for sacred art.
